Verisimilitude: the appearance or semblance of truth or reality; quality of seeming true. That is the word that Richard Donner used during the filming of Superman.

That is my hope to bring you with this blog. Now some you are asking why should I go to another blog site on the vast time waster know as the internet. My hope is that this site will focus on how pop culture revolves around the things we see, consume and talk to each other about. Because of my age (46 BTW) I can bring a sense of perspective to how we perceive current pop culture. It seem as if most blogs and sites tend to just complain about this and that. I don’t want to do that because my feeling is that no one just wants to hear people rant about stuff. I also will leave most of the news reporting to sites that better handle the day to day stuff.

I want this site to be about how current pop culture is very much affected by past pop culture. It’s not to say that I will talk about just old stuff. I am very much interested in current pop culture, but to understand the present you must have a link to the past. For example, to understand people who were less than overwhelmed with Avatar due to James Cameron promoting it as a truly original idea. My point of view is that there is very little originality to it because I have already seen Dances with Wolves, Pocahontas and Ferngully The Last Rainforest. I understand that we are not all going to like the same stuff but with perspective on pop culture I hope to provide new information about current trends and how the past can shed new light on it. Recently Aaron Sorkin had a line in his new HBO show Newsroom that mirrored what I would like to do with this blog. “People will want the news if you give it to them with integrity.” My goal is the same

There are four main categories that will have links. Movies, Television, Comics and Video Games. There will also be an Odds & End’s area that are part of pop culture but do not necessarily fit into one of the main categories. I hope to have interviews, videos and links to cool stuff.

My goal is simple, entertain and maybe bring some new information from the past to point out things that might be otherwise overlooked. I will leave you with one of my favorite quotes from the 1984 film “The Last Starfighter”:

“The important thing is, when it comes, you got to grab it with both hands and hold on tight.”

I hope that you will grab on with both hands and join me in this journey.
