Yes it’s been a few weeks between last weeks family up north visits and some health issues for me it’s been a bit rough lately but hopefully with the holiday weekend coming up I will be able to catch up a bit more.
Batman and the Outsiders #1 DC Comics Writer Bryan Hill, Artist Dexter Soy, Colorist Veronica Gandini, Letterer Clayton Cowles I’m old enough to remember back in 1983 when it first started and was a great comic by Mike Barr and Jim Aparo (and later Alan Davis) that mixed both old and new characters together with Batman and made for a really good comic back in the day.
It’s that time of the year again where your local comic shop has free comic books for both young and old to get new and old readers a chance to sample select comic books.
Bronze Age Boogie #1 Ahoy Comics Writers Stuart Moore/Tyrone Finch/Bryce Ingman/Kek-W, Artists Alberto Ponticelli/Mauricet/Shawn Crystal/Darick Robertson, Colorist Giulia Brusco/Lee Loughridge, Letterer Rob Steen As with the other Ahoy Comics you get a lot of bang for you buck with a main story, a back-up and two text pieces and of course that is assuming that it ends up being quality over quantity.

Ziggy Pig – Silly Seal Comics #1 Marvel Comic Writers Frank Tieri & John Cerilli, Artist Jason Chabot, Colorist Stefani Rennee, Letterer Joe Caramagna The last of the Marvel 80th Anniversary one shots celebrating themes from Marvel’s past is based on the 1946 comic of the same name.
Peter Cannon: Thunderbolt #2 Dynamite Entertainment Writer Kieron Gillen, Artist Casper Wijngaard, Colorist Mary Safro, Letterer Hassan Otsmane I was really caught off guard with the first issue and was quite impressed with Gillen’s story so I was excited to see where he was going to take the story after the solid first outing and not only did he build greatly on it but kept the momentum going and really built up the tension in the story.
High Level #1 Vertigo Comics Writer Rob Sheridan, Artist Barnaby Bagenda, Colorist Romulo Fajardo Jr., Letterer Nate Piekos Vertigo continues to try and rebuild the line and has really struggled with mix results so far and this new series does show some promise but I wasn’t totally sold on the story with this first issue.
Wonder Twins #1 DC Comics/Wonder Comics Writer Mark Russell, Artist Stephen Bryne, Letterer Dave Sharpe Fans of the Superfriends Saturday morning cartoon fondly remember the Wonder Twins but it was an odd choice for one of the new Wonder Comics line of all ages comics to say the least but with Russell at the helm you know its going to be a wild ride.
